Elder Lance B. Wickman


Elder Lance B. Wickman was sustained to the First Quorum of the Seventy April 1, 2000, at the Church's 170th Annual General Conference. He had been a member of the Second Quorum of Seventy since 1994. He is the General Counsel of the Church.

He is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and graduated from Stanford University, receiving his juris doctor degree in 1972. Professionally, he practiced law as a partner in the international law firm of Latham & Watkins. He is now retired from that law firm.

Elder Wickman served as a captain in the United States Army (Infantry, Ranger) f rom 1964 to 1969. He served twice in Viet Nam, receiving the Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He has held various ecclesiastical positions within the Church, including missionary in the Central British Mission (1961 to 1963), bishop, stake president and Regional Representative.

He and his wife, Patricia, are the parents of five children, one of whom is deceased, and four grandchildren.5
