Lee Yeakel

Honorable Lee Yeakel was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed as a United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas, Austin Division, in July 2003. Prior to his confirmation as a United States District Judge, Judge Yeakel was appointed by then Governor Bush as a Justice on the Texas Third Court of Appeals and was then elected to a six-year term on that court. Prior to his judicial service, from 1990-1998, Judge Yeakel was a shareholder in the Austin law firm of Clark, Thomas & Winters, and prior to that practiced law in Austin since 1969. Judge Yeakel was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry and serves as a member of the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, he is a member of the American Law Institute, a member of the American Judicature Society, he is a sustaining life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Judge Yeakel is a past president of Austin Young Lawyers Association, and the Austin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is a member of the Austin Bar Association. Judge Yeakel has spoken at various professional development courses and regulatory conferences. Judge Yeakel graduated and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Texas at Austin and received his Master of Laws from the University of Virginia. Judge Yeakel and Anne Riquelmy have been married for 43 years, they have two adult children, and three grandchildren.
